All about happiness

3 °C

Everyone has congratulated me to be living in a Happiest Country in the
world - Denmark. My parents friends are even envious of me. Oh... It's funny, mom however was rather skeptical. From what I told her, she doesn't think I share the same view as the survey revealed.

According to the latest survey http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/health/5224306.stm, Denmark is "happiest place on earth". I don't really know how the happiness was measured, it seems to suggest that health, education and wealth determine the level of the happiness.

Yet on a different survey a few years back, http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/africa/3157570.stm, Nigeria ranked top.
If you look at these surveys, you will find different answers.

When asked about what they think about the new survey, Danes joked they are happiest because they don't know what they are missing. From my experiences, unlike the Germans or the Japanese, Danes don't like to admit there are problems, they take a very relaxed and tolerant approach to life. If things don't work out, that's fine, and no one would desire to fight for better. They also believe no one should get better treatment than anyone else. Very interesting approach to life.

But I know how you can be a happier person, see http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/health/3047291.stm. In this article, scientific experiment found that practiced Buddhists are generally happier because of they are clam and generate positive emotions. I guess you don't have to be a Buddhist to gain happiness, it's not a guarantee. Yet if you are able to attain positive thinking toward bad situations in life, you may find you are less unhappy.....

Cheers~
